I’m told that a Hatteras sunk as a result of injuries sustained when major parts of their floating dock broke free. The boat is currently being hauled out for repairs, might try to get pictures of it tomorrow.

The pictures were taken at 8:30PM or there abouts.

Goodbye Dennis, stupid jerk… /illc0mm/2005/07/10/goodbye-dennis-stupid-jerk/ /illc0mm/2005/07/10/goodbye-dennis-stupid-jerk/#comments Sun, 10 Jul 2005 20:36:46 +0000 illc0mm /illc0mm/?p=42 Well, probably my final Dennis entry. It’s high tide and the water has almost completely receded. A final picture to compare to, I expect the streets to be dry by around 6:30PM even though the next low tide isn’t until 12:13AM (read midnight) tomorrow morning.

I’m wondering what kind of effect Dennis might have on all fish kills from the red tide we’ve been having lately and on the red tide itself. Hopefully he’ll pull all of the nastiness out of the bay.

Water begone!
And stay out!!! High tide and the water is still draining…

Flood Part 2: Electric Boogaloo /illc0mm/2005/07/10/flood-part-2-electric-boogaloo/ /illc0mm/2005/07/10/flood-part-2-electric-boogaloo/#comments Sun, 10 Jul 2005 17:15:37 +0000 illc0mm /illc0mm/?p=41 So, it’s 1:12PM about 3 1/2 hours before high tide and the flood waters have started to recede. Looks like no water in the house this time. We’ll see what the 4:35 high tide has in store for us.

Bring it on Dennis! /illc0mm/2005/07/10/bring-it-on-dennis/ /illc0mm/2005/07/10/bring-it-on-dennis/#comments Sun, 10 Jul 2005 16:29:29 +0000 illc0mm /illc0mm/?p=40 So Dennis has passed us by, but not after splashing us with a really large puddle… What a jerk…

In any case, let the Shore Acres Flood begin! At about 6:00AM the wife noticed we were getting water in the streets, high tide was at 6:36AM, so that should be good news… However, it’s 12:28PM right now and even though low tide was at 10:21AM the water continues to rise.

This is caused, most likely, by the winds from Dennis pushing water into the bay and subsequently up the storm drains into the streets. My back yard is bone dry (thanks to my wonderful geo-engineering, or just because there is no direct access to the streets back there…

Expecting some fun at 4:35PM with another high tide. Maybe Dennis will start to pull some of the water back by that time, but probably not.

Here are some pictures, enjoy my pain!
